Sawana radio program was inaugurated on 06 th of September 2006, under the preview of CHRY Radio.
The program was transmitted on 105.5 F.M. from 9:00 to 10:00A.M., for Sinhala speaking audience in
Canada.
In the second year as from November 2008, this program was transmitted from 9:00 to 10:00P.M.
Recently Sawana launched a website, which is an online portal for the distribution of local events, music, pre recorded programs.
A Young lad joined Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) as a Program Production Assistant in 1971, gradually climbed the ladder of his career to be a Producer (Current Affairs) and then as the Controller (Operations) in 1980s.
He received excellent in-house training from eminent broadcasters such as Stuwert Wevall (BBC) and Palitha Perera (News & Current Affairs Programs). In addition he received quality training in new techniques of editing while performing Sarisara Puwath Sangarawa with Premakeerthi De Alwis.
